Showdown Competitions
Often compared to a mix of air hockey and table tennis, Showdown is a competitive event designed to showcase visually impaired individuals' skills and talents in a challenging and exciting environment.
Showdown is a fast-paced sport designed for individuals who are visually impaired, but sighted players can also participate using blindfolds. Often described as a mix of air hockey and table tennis, players rely on sound rather than sight. The game is played on a rectangular table with raised sides, using a glove, paddle, and a ball filled with rattling beads. The goal is to hit the ball into the opponent's goal while defending your own, guided by the sound of the ball. All players wear blindfolds to ensure fairness, making hearing essential. Showdown encourages physical activity and quick reflexes and is popular in rehabilitation centers and sports leagues worldwide.
We host Showdown competitions to create a collaborative atmosphere where both visually impaired and non-visually impaired individuals can connect through mutual trust and understanding. These events allow the non-visually impaired to experience the perspective of the visually impaired, deepening their empathy and awareness. Most importantly, the competitions foster a sense of unity between both groups, which is the core mission of our club.
